SIETAR Houston Exhibits at FIGT Conference

Member volunteers chipped in today to man the SIETAR Houston exhibit at the Families in Global Transition conference, being held at the Westchase Marriott in West Houston. The conference with its approximately 300 attendees and some fifteen exhibitors kicked off this afternoon with plenary and topical sessions. The SIETAR exhibit attracted a good handful of observers, and some potential new members. V ice President of SIETAR Houston, Joanne Dodd who was on hand to answer questions, and deliver SIETAR event documents, said that the initial reception was quite positive.

The exhibit remains at the conference through Saturday afternoon. Liaison and coordination was provided in a most impressive manner by Andrea Brooks. Besides an informative display board, Andrea took charge of an update of the chapters information brochure and insured that there were ample supplies of program announcements, and information on both SIETAR Houston, and SIETAR USA.

The Exhibit Continues

Day two of the Families in Global Transition conference went well at the Westchase Marriott. As yesterday, SIETAR Houston was present as one of the several exhibitors. With an emphasis on expatriate dependent schooling, foreign assignment preparation training, and global moving agencies, SIETAR was one of the few non-profit NGO’s to display. With a few observers signing up for e-mail news of SIETAR Houston, the real value was in the front row visibility, as expressed by David Wigglesworth, Member of the Board of SIETAR Houston, who was staffing the exhibit table this afternoon.

This afternoon continued with FIGT “Cracker-Barrel Sessions” and a pre-dinner “Meet the Author” session. A number of SIETAR members were seen here and there; some as attendees of the FIGT event, and others as exhibitors with their personal company or professional affiliate organization to display.

The conference continues through tomorrow afternoon. This has been the first opportunity in quite a while for SIETAR Houston to show itself around the community. Other opportunities are being taken under study.
